About PureVeg
PureVeg is an ad-free global directory of pure vegetarian restaurants. It helps diners find restaurants that serve vegetarian food exclusively — no meat, fish, seafood or egg dishes anywhere on the menu — and clearly distinguishes them from mixed-menu restaurants that merely offer some vegetarian options.
Why PureVeg exists
For strict vegetarians — including many Jain, Hindu, Buddhist and other diners — a “vegetarian option” on a mixed menu is often not enough. Shared kitchens, shared fryers and mislabelled dishes are real concerns, especially when travelling. Finding a genuinely vegetarian-only kitchen in an unfamiliar city is surprisingly hard. PureVeg was built to solve exactly that problem.
Who runs it
PureVeg is independently built and maintained in Melbourne, Australia by Sonal and Vivek Bothra. It is not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any restaurant, chain or booking platform.
Independent and ad-free
There is no advertising on PureVeg. Restaurants cannot pay to be listed, ranked, labelled or promoted. If sponsored placement is ever introduced in the future, it will be clearly disclosed on every page where it appears.
How listings are maintained
Listings come from public restaurant information and community suggestions, and each one carries a classification label showing how it was checked. The full process — including how to request a correction — is described on the methodology page.
Contact and corrections
Spotted an error, own a listed restaurant, or want to add a place we’re missing? Use the suggestion and correction form. Corrections about accuracy — a closed restaurant, a menu that now includes meat or eggs — are prioritised.
